Addonics Multi Function Recorder

With so much going for it, it’s hard to see what the MFR doesn’t do, but there are a few nits to pick. For one, I wish it could burn DVDs, too, but then I guess that would add too much to its reasonable sub- $250 price tag. But the DVD burning capability will be needed even more as technology progresses, with various flash media now being offered upwards of a gigabyte, and Microdrives promising much more than that. Even so, that's not that much of a reason for complaint, because Addonics just released a CD-spanning software update that lets you use more than one CD to back up a large card full of data. But to be able to burn DVDs with this device would place it on an even higher level.

I really like this Addonics MFR. Overall, I think it’s a handy little tool to have around, especially for road warriors who take a lot of pictures and want to clean off their Compact Flash or SmartMedia cards from time to time without having to lug along a computer. It’s excellent for backing up data from those expensive flash memory cards onto dirt-cheap CD-RW discs. And, the unit also fills in nicely as a home DVD player. If you’re on-the-go, juggling various media types in your bag of tricks, the Addonics Multi Function Recorder deserves a close look.
